CHRIS CARR, COMMISSIONER OF THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO SPEAK AT JUNE 1 CHAMBER LUNCHEON
The Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Chris Carr, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development will be our guest speaker on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. The luncheon will take place at noon at the barn at The Rock Ranch. Cost to attend is $15 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-members.

Chris Carr, named Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) by Governor Nathan Deal, joined the agency in November 2013. As Commissioner, he leads the state agency responsible for creating jobs and investment in Georgia through business recruitment and expansion, international trade and tourism, as well as the arts, film and music industries.
Prior to joining GDEcD, Carr was Chief of Staff for Senator Johnny Isakson. Carr began his career with Georgia Pacific, moving on to practice law with Alston & Bird LLP and then serving as Vice President and General Counsel for the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.
Carr graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and Lumpkin School of Law. He lives in Dunwoody and has a daughter, Mary Clifton.

June 11 Promise Place is hosting its first annual “Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes” walk to support victims of domestic violence. The walk will begin at Heritage Park in Downtown Fayetteville, proceed down North Jeff Davis, home to Promise Place’s main office, and will conclude back at Heritage Park. This one mile walk in women’s shoes will show the support to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. Men, women and children are encouraged to participate in this walk, to show their support of all those struggling with domestic violence issues. Women’s shoes will be worn by each participant. Promise Place is a non-profit agency serving victims of domestic violence and their children in Fayette, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
June 11 DDI hosts M-Squared: Makeup and Mental Wellness for Women at the N'Trigue Hair Salon- 105 Avenue F, Thomaston, GA at 12 pm. They will have a licensed therapist and makeup artist present to discuss topics of beauty on the inside and on the outside. This is a FREE session and they look forward to seeing you there!
