Hoppy Hopkins representing Upson Regional Medical Center is the Chair of the Adult Leadership Upson program and Debbie Gignilliat, representing Specialties Flower Store is Vice-Chair. Lori Smith is coordinating for both Youth and Adult Leadership Upson tours.
Sponsored by The Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce, the group began their sessions with an orientation on October 20, 2011 at the Chamber office and then met for a full day of Camp Thunder activity on November 9.
At Camp Thunder, the Adults learn a lot of the same things the youth do, leadership, team building and problem solving skills and facing personal fears. Adult Leadership Upson will meet every month from this point on and will learn more about the various industries, local city, county, state government, healthcare, transportation, agriculture and recreation located in Thomaston and how it all works together. They will visit the State Capitol in January 2012 and will graduate from the program in November 2012. Shown in the photo is the Adult Leadership class dressed in their climbing gear getting ready to challenge themselves with the high copes course. More photos of the Adult Leadership Upson Camp Thunder experience are currently being uploaded to the Chamber’s facebook page.
